Conference and Meeting Management Principles

Conferences and meeting management, in a variety of formats, such as educational programming, business and committee meetings, receptions, special events and room block and sleeping room management, are all integral components of most exhibitions and events. Exhibition and event organizers must possess a working knowledge of the activities and functions related to meetings and master the skills necessary to address the different set of logistics needed for meeting management than those related solely to the management of the exhibition.

After completing this course, the participant should be able to:

  • Interpret the differences in meeting types
  • Evaluate education and programming formats
  • Explain adult learning theory
  • Select appropriate speakers for different types of programs
Housing and Registration Management

Additional services provided to attendees and exhibitors by the exhibition and event organizer require an understanding of the needs of the guests, as well as a working knowledge of hotel operations. Two of the service elements intrinsic to most events today are arranging for acc s of guests and identifying which guests will be allowed access to which portion of the event.
